Madrid is one of the most welcoming cities in Europe. I am very glad that the EPP Libertas Forum took place here and I hope to see you again in the Spanish capital, said the Mayor of Madrid @AlmediaPP_ in the closing remarks of our event.

Plurality of views, open debate, and differences of opinion are all essential to a healthy democracy. As the 2nd day of the EPP Libertas Forum draws to a close, we reflect with think tank representatives on how to preserve free citizens and free societies for generations to come.

Silence is the ally of dictatorship; solidarity is the ally of freedom. The talks continue at the EPP Libertas Forum, focusing now on the conditions for a full democracy.

There is no democracy without freedom.
Democracy can never be taken for granted.
 European and Ibero-American participants spoke about how disinformation is one of the greatest threats to our democracies and how democratic societies can address this challenge.

Citizens deserve freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. We must maintain hope that this will prevail. Panellists underlined that the fight for freedom is crucial for myriad reasons, but none more important than to improve living standards for citizens.

Freedom gives citizens the power to shape the future and influence the course of history.

Europe must remain strong, secure and true to its values. The EPP Libertas Forum highlighted the importance of democracy, freedom and the rule of law, and provided an opportunity for dialogue and exchange with participants from Ibero-America.

Without security, the rule of law, and respect for the law, there can be no democracy, said @mauriciomacri in his message to the EPP Libertas Forum.

Citizens expect security, prosperity and trustworthy institutions. As democracy faces new pressures, Europe and Ibero-American partners discuss how to strengthen resilience and shape their role in an increasingly complex global order.

Democratic erosion is quick to take hold and slow to repair. Democracies must be resilient in the face of internal and external destabilizing forces.
