Our discussion focused on regional developments, the #CY2026EU Presidency’s ongoing work and key files currently under way. In this highly volatile and dangerous situation, restraint to prevent further escalation is of great importance. Preventing a broader regional conflict and protecting civilians must be the immediate priority. The future of Iran must lie in the hands of the Iranian people.

The Iranian regime has inflicted immense suffering. Europe has called for dismantling its instruments of oppression and has imposed sanctions. We stand with the Iranian people in their fight for freedom. Iran must no longer pose a threat to its neighbours or to global security.

Respect to Uruguay & Argentina for strongly ratifying the EU trade agreement. It paves the way for one of the world’s largest economic zones. With all safeguards in place to protect our farmers, the EU should follow & provisionally apply the agreement so free trade can start now.

Four years of 🇺🇦 resilience, of courage — Ukrainians defending their homes, freedom, and territorial integrity. Defending our European way of life. A powerful reminder that peace cannot be taken for granted. It must be protected. Strengthened. Defended. We #StandWithUkraine!
