As the vote goes to cabinet today for the inquiry in to care of children with Spina Bifida and scoliosis, I want this image etched in their mind. A simple closed door. Harvey’s bedroom door. A door I cannot clean because those marks at the bottom are from him bursting through it in his wheelchair. Bursting through, full of joy, full of life. This door should be open. Sounds of laughter should still be echoing from that room, But it remains closed. #JusticeForHarvey

Israel Issues Threats Thiago Affirms: Our Mission Is Peaceful and Protected by Law The Israeli occupation government attempted to intimidate our flotilla over radio, threatening to stop and confiscate our vessels if we continued toward Gaza. Thiago responded firmly: we are a peaceful, nonviolent humanitarian mission. Our journey is legal under international law, and any attempt to obstruct us is not. "We carry food, aid, water filters, crutches, baby formula, to people you have been starving to death." The world is watching, and those responsible for hostile actions will be held accountable. #repost 📸 globalsumudflotilla (IG)

#JusticeForHarvey Harvey was only nine years old, the light and the love of his parents and family. A little boy whose smile impacted me and I never had the privilege of meeting him in person. He had his whole life ahead of him. Harvey waited years for a procedure to correct his scoliosis. He was cruelly taken off the waiting list without explanation. When the operation finally happened, heartbreakingly it was too late. Precious Harvey died shortly afterwards. Harvey is not just a name on a file. He is a cherished son, a beloved sibling, a child who deserved care, urgency, and dignity. Instead, he became the victim of a heartless system that continues to dehumanise disabled children and adults. What does it take in this country for political leadership to be held accountable? How many more children must die and be failed before those in power take responsibility? As a mother, I become breathless because I don’t want to imagine the unbearable pain Harvey’s mummy and daddy and his sibling are enduring. But in actual fact, we must share that pain. No parent should have to live through such loss and certainly not because the system meant to protect their child cruelty abandoned them. We must rise up. We must demand an end to ableism: blatant discrimination - the routine dehumanisation of disabled people. Harvey’s life matters. His death must matter too. @GillSherratt23 @Stephen63224725 if I could, I would take your pain away. I can’t. But I will stand with you. In loving memory of an incredible human Harvey. My deepest and sincere heartfelt sympathy.

Criminally charge those who abuse, physically or emotionally older, disabled people. Replace HIQA which is not fit for purpose. Support Independent Living at home and in the community Stop warehousing the old and disabled for profit Proper training for staff, not online QQI 3/3

What we witnessed was not care. It was systemic harm, pushing, shoving, grabbing, neglecting. It was emotional and physical harm. It was degrading. It was abuse, it was criminal. We call on the government to immediately: 2/3

Young disabled people being trapped in nursing homes is one of the greatest injustices of our time. During every election the housing crisis is rightly discussed, but no one talks about the over 1,200 young disabled people forced to live in nursing homes. search.app/fp4tFMUDeuKHgd…

As a self advocacy group we respectfully ask voters to remember the older people, people with disabilities and families who support everyday in your voting decision tomorrow? We hope that all parties who supported the Care Reg reflected and see each person as equally important.

The establishment of the interdepartmental committee on the optional protocol in the middle of the Care referendum debate was interesting timing. We asked the government to ethically and comprehensively ratify the optional protocol with the resources necessary.

We eagerly anticipate the Cabinet’s announcement following today’s discussion on the Optional Protocol. It is vital that the ratification not only provides clear, accessible, and effective domestic complaints mechanisms but also ensures disabled people have the full support to

If 42B had passed, would the government make it look like the needs of disabled people and older people had been met by placing the responsibility back into families? How grateful we are people of Ireland rejected a constitution that risked institutionalising people in our homes?

When pointedly asked about disabled children MM ignored and deflected, back to general health! Statistics are manipulated all the time. Full unemployment while 70% of disabled people are unemployed, 1300 people forced in nursing homes not counted in the homeless statistics.
