@WholeSchoolSEND @WSSemsyhumber @NasenJames @_chrisrossiter @DriverTrust This very much depends on the learner. I suspect that Turner, Mozart and Einstein did not regard all subjects as equal. They concentrated on what engaged, motivated and excited them as individuals. The pedagogy behind the Equals curriculums is no different.

@WholeSchoolSEND @WSSemsyhumber @NasenJames @_chrisrossiter @DriverTrust Equals curricula are designed to fit those who are marginalised by curriculums that are not designed for them. This is especially true for those at the edges e.g. those with PMLD and SLD. There is absolutely no research evidence to suggest that one curriculum can fit all.

@WholeSchoolSEND @WSSemsyhumber @NasenJames @_chrisrossiter @DriverTrust This depends on which Equals curriculum we’re discussing, since there are four, and which child we’re discussing. All of the Equals curriculums are designed to have sufficient flexibility to fit each child. They do not demand that the child change to fit the curriculum.

@WholeSchoolSEND @WSSemsyhumber @NasenJames @_chrisrossiter @DriverTrust The designers of the Equals curricula are acknowledged expert practitioners in the areas of SEND the curriculums are designed for. It would be ludicrous to expect those with no particular expertise in Maths to design a Maths curriculum. The same applies to PMLD, SLD and CLD.

@WholeSchoolSEND @WSSemsyhumber @NasenJames @_chrisrossiter @DriverTrust Not to the design, but learners (not families) do individually decide the direction & pace of travel because they are all in control of what they individually concentrate on. Motivation is key to success. No curricula will work effectively without the individual’s engagement.

@WholeSchoolSEND @WSSemsyhumber @NasenJames @_chrisrossiter @DriverTrust Yes, because each curriculum is centred on a Capabilities Approach; that is, they are all concerned with enabling each individual student to be the best they can be and do the best they can do, irrespective of disability, by the time the individual leaves school at 19.
