I have no evidence, but I assume Trump suspended most tariffs for 90 days because he read my analysis of his global trade war, and my take on the March jobs report. So you should probably read it too! open.substack.com/pub/epicecon/p…

If the Trump administration is committed to improving economic prosperity for Americans, they should be committed to measuring those improvements accurately. bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

Researching the potential regional impacts of Trump's Trade War, I was surprised how exposed North Dakota is. 12% of their GDP is exports (7th in U.S.), but about 90% of their exports go to Canada!

To me, recent events have been a wake-up call that the successes and failures of elected leaders in Washington reverberate through every American community, from the biggest cities to the smallest towns, and to every corner of the globe.

Shocking new headlines hit the airwaves every day. I am often left wondering: How will this affect me? My family, friends, and neighbors? My local community? I have a hunch I am not alone in asking these questions.

Inflation is most salient for me when it hits goods with inelastic demand. For me, that's eggs and coffee. With the avian flu outbreaks, I've been noticing.

@jaysonst Couldn't agree more! Winning in baseball is hard. Winning in the postseason is even harder. Pettitte had 5 WS rings and more postseason wins (19) than any pitcher in history. That can and should count for something.

New column: After hours of looking at this, I voted for Andy Pettitte for the Hall of Fame for the first time ... Because I stopped focusing on what he wasn't and appreciated what he was - for 18 years: A reliable workhorse win machine. nytimes.com/athletic/60463…

11. If policymakers want to ensure the benefits of a large employer are widespread, increasing affordability of housing is likely their best bet. Happy to answer any questions! #EconTwitter #Amazon

10. The biggest shortcoming of Amazon's expansion may be it increases inequality. Wealthier residents own homes at higher rates, and so benefit the most. They also are more politically active - maybe another reason local governments subsidize big employers (other than jobs!)

1. This holiday season, have you really thought about how online retail has transformed shopping? It's wild! I can get all my gifts from the comfort of home. But e-commerce giants like Amazon have changed our communities too. Are we better off?
