It’s ironic how, all of a sudden, Kurds are being recognized as Kurds rather than “Iranians,” “Iraqis,” or “Syrians.” Trump seems to have adopted these talking points from his dictator friend Erdogan. One day, he may come to understand who Erdogan really is, what his ambitions are, and the role he seeks to play in reshaping the Middle East. Trump made a serious mistake by confronting Iran without the Kurds. History has shown that no force has challenged dictators, terrorists, and authoritarian regimes in the region more effectively than the Kurds. So, good luck trying to topple the Persian Islamic regime without them. He seems to be struggling with the Persian mullahs and really wants to make a deal with them.
