Let's say those two words and sit with them. The Persian Gulf. It has been called that for over 2,000 years. In ancient Greek sources. In Roman sources. In medieval Islamic geography. In every map made by every civilization that sailed it or studied it across two millennia of recorded history. It is called the Persian Gulf because Persia, Iran, sits on its northern shore. Because Persian civilization shaped the waters, the trade routes, the ports, the culture of that body of water for longer than most of the current Gulf states have existed as political entities. Iran is not a foreign power projecting into the Gulf. Iran is the Gulf's northern shore. And the arrangement that has been constructed, where Iran is treated as a threat to Gulf stability while American carrier groups park in Iranian-adjacent waters and American bases on Gulf soil are used to conduct operations against Iran, requires a profound act of geographic and historical denial to sustain. Iran is not threatening the Gulf. Iran is in the Gulf. Iran has always been in the Gulf. What is new is not Iran's presence. What is new is the American presence. What is new is the arrangement that pays for the American presence to be maintained against the country that has been on the Gulf's northern shore for three thousand years. The Persian Gulf is not a platform for killing Persians. Iran is telling you this clearly. The clarity will not get clearer.

The Gulf states cannot survive without access to the Strait of Hormuz; their access may therefore be conditioned on paying taxes as reparations and selling their oil in other currencies to end the petrodollar system that ties the US to the region. This war will prove to have been a historic mistake— as the effort to restore global primacy only intensified its demise. Yet in our local media, the propaganda is still organised around the saviour narrative of “liberating women” and “helping protesters”. This is similar to the absurd narrative of the Ukraine War, where the effort of using Ukrainians to impose a strategic defeat on Russia is sold to the public as NATO "helping" Ukraine defend its sovereignty. If the West wants to maximise its security and end these conflicts on favourable terms, it must break free from the narratives it has created.

Sometimes you really need to hit rock bottom before you can change for the better. Let’s hope this is the time for us now! Enough with the useless wars already. Let’s stop pretending we’re exceptional and let’s become exceptional now before it’s too late! An Exceptional America would Bring all its Troops Home, Close All its Bases, Stop all Sanctions, Close its Dept of war and replace it with a Dept of Peace, and Stop these arrogant idiotic bull shit Regime Change policies. He said that if elections were held, Hồ Chí Minh would win with approximately 80 percent of the vote. So they cancelled the elections. Think about that every time an American politician talks about "spreading democracy." They cancelled the democratic election because the "wrong" person would win. They then spent the next two decades killing people to prevent the government that would have been democratically elected from taking power. And they called the other side anti-democratic. This is not ancient history. This is the logic that still governs every "democracy promotion" operation today. Democracy is acceptable when it produces the "right" results. When it does not, you cancel the election, back a coup, fund the opposition, impose sanctions, and call the government that the people actually chose a "dictatorship." Vietnam exposed this logic completely. Not with arguments. With history. With the receipts.
