I was blessed to know Rob and Michelle Reiner and to have the gift of working alongside them on marriage equality, child welfare, and the promotion of human rights. Our city and world has lost two angels and we must find a way forward. Their memories are more than blessings, but a reminder to make our time about building a better world. We will miss you.

I'm sending all strength and love to my city in this moment of great pain. Thank you to our first responders and our neighbors who are doing so much for our people. Like so many, I have family displaced and friends who have lost everything. Let's survive, protect, and grieve and then rebuild our City of Angels. Thank you to all serving that common purpose and summoning our better angels.

A Los Angeles without Chip Murray is unthinkable. You were a true angel and prophet when we needed you most. Rev. Dr. Cecil L Murray, rest in peace. You are home. Let us all act on how you how taught us to protect our city and each other justly and lovingly.

Absolutely delighted that baseball-softball, cricket, flag football, lacrosse and squash will feature in @LA28. This is great news for sportspersons. As a cricket loving nation, we specially welcome inclusion of cricket, reflecting the rising global popularity of this wonderful sport.

P.S. Though I have so many grateful memories of working with Senator Feinstein, I hope when the Wilshire subway extension opens we will all take a moment to thank Dianne Feinstein for believing in LA and fighting for our transit dreams

Dianne Feinstein lived a principled life of service w/ courage & fearlessness. Amy and I loved knowing her, learning from her & seeing her serve our state and country. On a personal level, she was a unfailing partner for our city and always was there for me. I'll miss her deeply.

Amy & I are so sad to learn of Peg Yorkin's passing. She was a friend & mentor to both of us early in our adult lives & she was an incredible fighter for equality for everyone & just an amazingly fun person to be around. May she inspire us to always find justice and humor in life

I'm so deeply saddened by the death of longtime peacemaker and fighter for justice, Bishop David O'Connell. He was a friend of many years and part of a prayer group that I participated in throughout the COVID pandemic. This city has lost one of its most beautiful angels.

I mourn the passing of #DesmondTutu who fought for a world of justice and love. Amy and I had the great joy of spending time with him on three continents in S Africa, the UK, and in Los Angeles in 2005. His laugh, his love, his leadership changed us and changed the world forever.
