RAF pilot Alan Pollock flew his Hawker Hunter jet under the Tower Bridge in 1968 to protest the government ignoring the RAF's 50th anniversary. One of the most famous unauthorized flights in aviation history.

A young gray wolf searching for a mate has made history by returning to Sequoia National Park after more than 100 years. The wolf, a 3-year-old female known as BEY03F, was recently detected inside the park after an extraordinary journey of hundreds of miles across California. She is the first publicly confirmed gray wolf in Sequoia National Park in over a century. The wolf, a 3-year-old female known as BEY03F, was recently detected inside the park after an extraordinary journey of hundreds of miles across California. She is the first publicly confirmed gray wolf in Sequoia National Park in over a century. Now she has reached the ancient forests of Sequoia. According to California Wolf Watch and wildlife officials, BEY03F is actively seeking a mate and a territory of her own. She was fitted with a GPS tracking collar in 2025, which has allowed researchers to follow her impressive journey through the Sierra Nevada. Gray wolves were once common across California but were driven to extinction in the state by the 1920s due to hunting, trapping, and habitat loss. The species’ return began in 2011 when OR-7 crossed from Oregon, marking the first confirmed wild wolf in California in nearly a century. Today, at least 50 gray wolves are known to roam the state. Both federally and state-protected as endangered, their slow comeback is seen by conservationists as a major ecological milestone. For many, BEY03F’s presence in Sequoia is a powerful symbol, proof that one of North America’s most iconic predators is quietly reclaiming its historic range, one determined journey at a time.

Canadian police caught a fox red-pawed, or rather, red-mouthed, stealing hot dogs in broad daylight. On May 11, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer patrolling in Blairmore, Alberta, spotted the fluffy culprit trotting along with five or six full hot dogs crammed in its mouth. The fox wasn’t exactly trying to be stealthy. The RCMP later posted the hilarious photo online, playfully labeling the animal a “brazen criminal.” The image went viral almost instantly, it looks more like a scene from a cartoon heist than real wildlife. But behind the humor lies classic red fox behavior. Red foxes are clever, highly adaptable scavengers that thrive near humans. In towns and suburbs, they regularly raid trash, campsites, and backyard barbecues. When they hit the jackpot, they often try to carry off as much food as possible in one go to prevent other animals from stealing it. Foxes are also famous for “caching”, hiding surplus food for later consumption. So those hot dogs were likely headed for a secret stash somewhere nearby. Thankfully, Canadian authorities have decided this is one crime they won’t be pursuing too aggressively. Case closed… Or at least put on pause while the fox enjoys its spoils.
