The best AI I used last month had no “AI” logo or button. 🇧🇷 I had an amazing experience in Brazil last month, where I was invited to give talks at @Philips ConnectDay 2025. My trip started with a classic travel challenge: the driver who picked me up from the airport didn't speak any English, and while I can get by with some Spanish, my Portuguese is virtually nonexistent. I thought this might happen on my trip, so I got the new AirPods Pro 3 before I left. Using the Live Translation feature, I was able to have a whole conversation with him during the two-hour ride from the airport to the hotel (those of you who know how bad São Paulo traffic can get 😮). Then, last week, as I was giving a keynote at @EuSoMII, I retold that story with a blank slide as I took the AirPods out of my pocket. Looking at the device, there's no "AI" button or flashy branding. I don’t know if it’s using a large model, a small model, or a tiny model. I didn’t care whether the model ran on the device or in the cloud. It didn’t matter. It just worked. As we design and build AI solutions for radiology, our goal shouldn’t be to showcase the technology's complexity but to simplify and improve the radiologist's workflow. In radiology, another key design principle is not to replace the radiologist's judgment but to augment it, striking a careful balance that enhances the radiologist's workflow without obscuring the vital processes that ensure patient safety and diagnostic accuracy. Some say the best AI is the AI you don't even notice. While some might debate the pros and cons of “invisible AI,” this experience illustrated for me the principle of a “frictionless user experience.” #airpodspro3 #AI
