@ty_olsen Yes, and... there are lots of examples of media reaching sustainability by building trust + revenue from local advertising and readers. Village Media's big news today is evidence of that success. I get nervous about gov $$ because it always benefits legacy at startups' expense

I increasingly think our institutions, businesses, and governments that believe in their community having a sense of community really need to start putting their money where their mouths are. Simply buying ads to advertise things isn't going to keep these places solvent.

This is huge. So much happening in cdn media this last month! The system is shifting and new influencers are emerging. Media power is being generated from parts of the country outside Toronto, bringing new perspectives to the news industry at the highest levels. I’m hopeful
