Great to see our work published today. ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/ST… @benjamin_georgi @skathire @amitvkhera We were interested in Factor XI, a target of the coagulation cascade currently in clinical development (Ph II). We used two common genetic variants, previously shown to be

I think in their model one should put a structured prior (e.g. a GP prior with RBF kernel) over the intercepts corresponding to the different risk sets. Currently they are all independent... A neat exercise to code this in @mcmc_stan.

I can recommend to give a @BBayesians meetup talk about your work and how Bayesian methods have been used there (e.g. at Lyft or Facebook)! It’s also a great way to meet a nice and active community.

I have launched the #PyDataPodcast! Check out Ep1 with @fonnesbeck where we talk about #ProbabilisticProgramming, #PyMC3, #PyMC4, and baseball analytics pydata-podcast.com It's supposed to be a conversation-based show on more advanced topics, let me know what you think!

A typical results letter coming back from medical genetic testing is very difficult to understand - and yet this kind of testing is set to become routine within the NHS and worldwide... so we set out to come up with a results template that can be understood by all...

How often did I get stuck in a stats or probability context, because of ambiguous math notation or sloppy explanations. And often it’s a probabilistic program (in @mcmc_stan) that helps me understand what’s going on! A (latent) advantage of PPLs!!!
