Congratulations to junior Brooke Springsteen. Brooke was named to Newsday’s list of the top 100 softball players for the 2026 season. Newsday said, “The East Stroudsburg commit hit .603 with 40 runs scored and was the League V Defensive Player of the Year.”

Ceramic artists Shea Dobrie and Jaylin Pentzel dove into their imagination when creating these underwater-themed animals, shaping clay into flowing, organic forms that mimic the movement of ocean life.

During Career Day, held on March 13 at the Jr.-Sr. High School, students attended an assembly and career fair with local professionals from the community who shared their insights about their chosen careers and what it takes to be successful in their jobs.

Please join us on Major League Baseball Opening Day for a Game Day hot dog meal in the ESM Jr.-Sr. HS cafeteria. Before the players step up to the plate, enjoy a delicious themed lunch of a Sabrett hot dog, popcorn and milk and juice. Don't miss the chance to support your team.

Students Jaylin Pentzel, Oreoluwa Somosu, William Thomas and Pasha Wray were honored for outstanding academic achievement, dedication to learning and commitment to excellence by the Brookhaven Town Board and Black History Commission during the 35th annual Black History Night.

Alex and Logan Silbert traveled to Syracuse to represent Section XI at the NYSPHSAA State Championships this past weekend. Alex came in 5th place out of 54 bowlers and Logan placed 26th. Congratulations!

Chef Sabrina and Whitson’s, the district’s food service, will be offering delicious wings at the Wing Shack for Jr. High School students on March 16 and High School students on March 17. Please make sure to take part in this special cafeteria event.

District classrooms took time to celebrate the power of reading aloud during annual World Read Aloud Day, held on March 6.

The Jr.-Sr. High School art department is proud to announce that 15 student-artists will showcase their talents at the annual 2026 Student Exhibition at the Parrish Art Museum in Watermill from March 7 through April 26.

Maddie Laezza competed at the NYSPHSAA Indoor Girls Winter Track Championship, running 9:38.91 in the 3000m, finishing 4th and earning All-State/All-Federation honors. Maddie followed with a personal best of 4:35.80 in the 1500m, earning an All-Federation medal.

Jr.-Sr. High School students explored world culture through participation at International Night and Latin dance classes during World Languages Week, held on March 2-6.

Throughout the District, elementary school students were found with a book as they celebrated Read Across America.

The National Honor Society held a blood drive on 2/26 for the New York Blood Center and collected 41 pints, which was greatly needed after the blizzard forced NYCB to cancel many drives across Long Island. It was open to students aged 16 and over and faculty and staff.

The Jr.-Sr. High School’s National Honor Society held its second annual Milk and Cookies Night for the district’s elementary school students on Feb. 26. It was a night filled with reading and crafts.

March is designated as Music in Our Schools Month by the National Association for Music Education to raise awareness of the importance of music education. Please thank music faculty for the efforts and expertise in providing music education opportunities for ESM students.

The District held a Family Night to bring English language learners and their families together while celebrating students and the community. They explored resources to support learning at home and connected with faculty in a welcoming and supportive environment.

ESM’s Virtual Enterprise team, Duvaire de Parfum, won Silver (top 20) for booth design at the Virtual Enterprise NYS and NE Business Plan Competition and Trade Show at LIU Brookville. The competition hosted more than 2,300 students and 150 firms from across NYS and New England.
