If everyone has to sign up for jury duty…can we also have them sign up for substitute teacher duty? 🤪

Social media is great; BUT, can we also recognize ALL the amazing teachers out there who are engaging their students daily, creating AMAZING lessons, being exactly what their kids need & not posting it on social media? They’re also crushing it & making a difference for many kids.

As educators… it’s important that we never forget what it’s like to be a kid.

When students dysregulate and behave in unexpected ways, they are thinking with the emotional part of their brain at that moment. This is not a teachable moment. It is a time to connect, not correct. #LeadInclusion #EdChat #Inclusion #SEL

To the parents of students with behaviors, We see you & all that you do each day. Yes, there may be challenges at school, but that doesn’t mean we are giving up. We are a team. Regardless of the tough days, we love your child & will continue to do what we can to support them ❤️

As we near the holidays, remember that for some kids, this time of year brings stress, unknowns, inconsistencies, & chaos It’s not uncommon to see an increase in behaviors, big emotions & new challenges During these times, give grace, listen & remember the power of 2nd chances

Teachers everywhere are feeling burnt out. So, what do we do to help each other? 1️⃣ Give yourself GRACE❤️ 2️⃣Give others GRACE💗 Our work places won’t be the positive/supportive places we NEED if we don’t do this. Everyone is doing their best w/ what they have. Remember that❤️

Do you have the Sunday Scaries? Rather than focusing on everything you need to get done & thinking about how frustrated you are with the your job this year🥺 Try thinking about the GOOD & what you can control! Your kiddos will be SO happy to see you + it’s a NEW week ❤️

We have to be careful not to nit pick every thing that kids do. When kids have BIPs, we often end up holding them to an unrealistic standard. They didn’t work for 30 sec? Nor did their desk mate Suzy. They sharpened their pencil at the wrong time? So does half the class 😅

Trauma doesn’t exist in 1 type of environment. Trauma can occur ANYWHERE(even places we don’t expect): homes w/ 2 adults, hospital, daycare, a car, w/ a sibling, etc. Sometimes you’ll hear about the trauma & sometimes you won’t. Remember that as you work w/ kiddos in your class❤️

We have to use “universal precautions” when addressing our students❤️ What does that mean? Treating all kids as if they’ve experienced trauma.

If there are teacher & para shortages EVERYWHERE…but they aren’t paying people more. Where is the money going for all of the positions they can’t fill? IDEA: Maybe they should use that money to compensate teachers/paras for all their extra work due to the staffing shortages…?

And remember, everyone just does the best they can with what they have ❤️
