Big congrats to Dr. Xueqi Pang, who not only successfully defended his thesis last week, but also had his article on a membrane-free approach to CO2 electrolysis published in @Joule_CP this week! The following link gives free access to the article: authors.elsevier.com/a/1gHw5_vpkkEo…
In honor of Prof. Chen's award, 11 former students/postdocs from the Chen group presented talks at today's Wilhelm symposium. Prof. Chen has advised/co-advised 48 PhD students and 30 postdocs. Major shout out to Jingguang for his incredible efforts as a mentor over these years!!
CONGRATS to Prof. Jingguang Chen on receiving the AIChE's R.H. Wilhelm Award, which recognizes awardees for significant & new contributions in chemical reaction engineering! Prof. Chen joins a list of highly accomplished chemical engineers to have received the Wilhelm award.
Excited to be a PI of Ensembles of Photosynthetic Nanoreactors (EPN), a $10.5M EFRC led by @ArdoShane! Our team will understand, predict, and control the activity, selectivity, and stability of nano-reactors for solar water splitting! energy.gov/articles/doe-a…
@ChemeCU is starting a #NSF#REU this summer in Climate and Health Solutions. Please share with talented undergraduates to Apply Now! More info here: cheme.columbia.edu/reu
To potential applicants to the Columbia ChemE PhD program: deadline is tomorrow to register for our PhD Pre-Application Review (PAR) program being run by our DEI committee and ChEGO PhD student organization; great chance to get some feedback and advice on your application!
Congrats to @AmarABhardwaj, who's research on silicon oxide nanocoatings for selective water oxidation in synthetic seawater solutions was recently published in ACS Catalysis:
pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
Can't wait to see what he does next during his PhD studies next year!
Happy new year everyone.
Officially promoted to Full Professor today. Hopefully 2021 will be a smoother ride than 2020, especially for families with young kids.
Congrats to Marissa and Lexi on publication of their work on oxide-encapsulated Pt electrocatalysts that show the ability to tune the fluxes
of protons and O2 to buried interfaces! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
Congrats to PhD student and group member Marissa Beatty on being selected for a DOE Office of Science SCGSR program award and NSF Intern program to carry out in situ ambient pressure X-ray spectroscopy at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab next year!
Big congrats to Xueqi Pang on publication of his paper on membraneless electrolyzers in Energy & Environmental Science! pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art… ; lots of good insights into design rules for membraneless electrolyzers informed by really cool in situ high speed videography:
It was a pleasure having you in the group, and we look forward to celebrating in person. Best of luck on all of your endeavors, we can’t wait to see all you accomplish in the coming years!
