That’s good on the latter. On his terms, I think there are two motivations behind what he said. (1) to signal to his base that he will stand by and advocate for more radical immigration policies, push the Overton window. (2) a message to Farage that he wants to put party politics to the side for the benefit of the country.

Rupert did not propose a merger with Reform, I have absolutely zero idea how Connor got that impression
The collaboration proposal is an ingenious way to throw back all the vote splitting arguments (our Achilles heel) in Farage’s face.
We know Reform can’t ever win a general election without us, but Farage will still refuse and look awful. There is no way for Farage to respond to (or ignore) this and look good, and obviously he would never accept.
If Connor wants a role at Reform (which seems obvious), he should just ask outright, it would be more honest

100,000+ potential members. Their choice of the Restore team as Reform staff. (Some of whom they wish were in Reform already.) Rupert's seat on the Public Accounts Committee. Regaining lost credibility on deportations, rape gangs, etc. Youth support. A monopoly on the "anti-establishment" brand on the right, with no viable rivals. The reasons to do it outnumber the reasons to reject Rupert's offer. Whether the bitterness between the men outweighs sense, however, is another matter.

@MontyCristo11 Lowe has likely realised they can’t win the next GE but could take enough votes to harm Reform, which gives him leverage. Maybe there’s a better time, but I think the olive branch is a good move.

@shunty19 Ideally you want the Tories out the picture but an alliance is better than Labour again. And I’m sure there are people within Restore that were against Lowe doing this.

@itaintwhiteboy @Albrochier Fair points and I agree. There would be no civil war or coup, the threat the government would face is losing the next general election. So it is through democracy that change happens.

@EspressoLucid @Albrochier People did rebel against the poll tax but that was a very specific thing against a very specific policy. If people on mass are going to protest/rebel against paying council tax, then it needs to be clear what exactly is the demand. Can’t be vague like “elites bad”
