Yes, that's definitely true, but from my experience it's important to have reasonable expertise in writing, and in the domain that you're writing about, before collaborating with an AI can be truly considered collaboration. You need to be able to hold your own in the conversation for it to be an effective editing / creative partner.

The real skill isn't avoiding AI tools - it's knowing when and how to use them effectively. I've seen founders who master AI as a thinking partner outperform those who either reject it entirely or rely on it blindly. The craft is in the collaboration, not the avoidance.

@CryptidAmoeba @jordanbpeterson The idea behind that example was that it's important to use language that you fully understand and would use naturally when explaining your ideas in writing. If a writer has a rich and full vocabulary, then that example would likely not apply :)

@ManningJul45727 Correct. We're definitely committed to keeping the thinking with the writer. But also this isn't for an AI-assistant. We do plan on integrating more AI features, but our philosophy is very much as you describe. "I'll help you, but you have to do the work & thinking."

@essay_app Every iteration of AI assistants or online essay "help" that came before leads me to think that's the case. Is the essay app going to be the tough love app? "I'll help you but you're doing the work. I won't do it for you."

Hey @lastbestdev, we're not building an AI writing assistant (although I think that could also be a good thing if done to help someone learn to write). Essay is a structured writing platform that helps people learn to develop their ideas by writing. It was inspired by @jordanbpeterson's writing guide.
