I’m 21 and something really embarrassing happened this morning that I haven’t dealt with since I was a teenager. I’m staying at my boyfriend’s apartment, he’s at work, and I’m panicking because I don’t know how to handle it before he gets back.
I have a work orientation Zoom meeting soon, no laundry access here, and I feel overwhelmed and ashamed. My mind is racing and I honestly just need advice on how to deal with the situation calmly without spiraling.
I know accidents can happen, but right now I feel really emotional and embarrassed.

🚨 SHOPRITE THEFT 🚨
💡 HOW MIRIAM STOLE 454 MILLION IN HER FIRST MONTH AS A SALES GIRL. 💡
Miriam got a job at ShopRite in Lagos State and in her first month, she stole 454 million naira, not in a year, not over 10 years. In one month, and the way she did it, I need you to sit down for this one, just sit down real quick.
She got hired as a regular sales girl in ShopRite in Etiusa, Lagos State in 2017. Now most people when they start a new job, they are nervous, they are trying to impress their new boss, they are learning the ropes. And at most, at most, they'll still want biscuits during break time, you know now, the usual, usual thing.
But Miriam came to work with a whole different plan. She showed up to her first day with her own personal POS machine, not a ShopRise POS, her own, linked to her personal bank account. Whenever a customer came to pay, especially during busy periods, she'd quietly swap out the ShopRise POS machine and replace it with her own.
Prior end of the month the accountant doing audit on their account and when they did the numbers were not given. Like, what was in the sales records and what was in their account were living in two completely different realities. So they informed the police and the police arrested Miriam. And police asked her, okay madam, where is the money? She could not give an account, not one sentence of explanation, just silence.
She was arraigned before an abortion magistrate court on two counts, felony and stealing. And this woman. She was granted a bill of N300,000 with two shortages and then remanded at kiri kiri prison while she sorted out her bill. The case was then adjourned to July 28, 2017.
And what happened after that? The internet went quiet, but the damage was very much documented. And look, some people are saying this is why ShopRite eventually pulled out of Nigeria. Staff theft had become so organized, from floor workers to mid-level management, and the losses were just uncontrollable.
But Miriam, she didn't just steal from her employer. She came to her first day of work with a premeditated plan in mind. That's not petty crime. That's a business plan. A terrible, illegal business plan. But still, if you know someone that just started a new job, you might want to be checking their staff and the accounts. I'm just saying.
