Also the Trossard foul on Pablo happens from when the corner is taken to after Raya is fouled, it takes place where the action is because it's why Pablo ends up on top of Raya

Martin Keown on talk shite saying that it should be a red card next season if a defender is holding an attacker on a corner and not looking at the ball And when a West Ham fan calls in and points out what Trossard did he says it’s not clear and the foul on Raya supersedes it🤣

I don’t think there’s a halfway house with VAR anymore. The consensus from yesterday either seems to be it’s proof of how well it can work and doubling down on it. Or full abolition because it is a travesty.

@Marc_YNWA @AdamCrafton_ The ball is not going to the attacker, Raya was catching it and was fouled. If Mavrapanos was about to head it and he was held down, that’s the foul that would have been given and the foul on Raya ignored. It’s very simple.

@AdamCrafton_ I don't know how anybody can watch that and think VAR worked. I think it's a foul on the keeper, but I've also seen half a dozen goals arsenal have scored where the keeper has been impeded and shouldn't have stood if we are using the same rules. And if it's not a goal, it's a pen

Nuno is right. Who knows what is a foul in the pen area wrestling at corners ? No consistency at all. Raya is impeded for sure, but there are other offences. Next week that goal might stand. This is the mess we are in. Likewise handball.

@RestIsFootball @alanshearer We don’t see this every week. Holding the keepers arm is not smart, Arsenal players use their body, don’t hold the keepers hands. The only exact consistent case is Ben White holding the Leicester keepers arm last season…which had the goal disallowed.

Don’t think Raya should try and come and claim the ball tbh. Pablo has a better starting position and is strong. When he jumps and uses his arms as leverage, Raya still tries to get through him but fails. In the split second Raya knows he’s 2nd favourite the theatrics come out and you can see in his face and actions he is going to try and win the foul. Very lucky the goal got overturned imo
