So for everyone who are celebrating #pride today, I wanted to say, Happy Pride. You are loved. You are enough.

But Christianity, as a religion, needs to change as a whole - especially how we embrace and love one another as humans because love is the only commandment, grace is the only message.

As a follower of Christ, I am going to be better to love better, to fight for the persecuted & marginalized, to be a light and embody Christ by living the only two commandments that matter - love God, love others.

As a Christian, it makes me so sad & angry that the church has hurt the marginalized, specifically, the gay community, when we should be unconditionally accepting, embracing and loving that community. Because that is what Christ would have done.

When you actually read the Bible, you realize that Jesus spent the majority of his ministry with actual people - He spent his time with the marginalized, the persecuted, the group of people who society did not treat right. He spent all his time telling them they are loved by God.

I said not only would have Jesus have been at the parade, but he would have held everyone by the hand, looked at them in the eyes, and tell them that “they are loved & they are enough” (For anyone who think this is controversial, read the Bible. Jesus was controversial, himself)

I asked my mom, “If Jesus was alive today, and lived in NYC, would he have been at the #pride parade?” After a long pause, my mom replied, she didn’t know. I quickly replied I thought Jesus would have been at the parade. My answer seemed to have shocked her.

Last week, my mom & I had a conversation about the gay community in context of the church. For those that don’t know me personally, I grew up in the church, my dad is a pastor & I consider myself as a Christian. This is tough for me to speak out against a faith I hold so dearly.
