At Wimbledon, Federer is at all these different houses. He doesn’t have superstitions. He doesn’t always need to practice in the same place or have one favorite meal. This was a key element to Federer’s longevity.
Too much routine can kill the joy.
Too much constant focus can grind you down.
English

Rick Rubin said find the time that you work best and protect that time
For Federer that was his late night alone time where he didn’t have to be his coach’s player, his wife’s husband, his children’s dad, or even Roger Federer
This was an important part of his life that allowed him to burn out less
English

Federer would watch his matches back and feel embarrassed and uncomfortable seeing himself act super emotional throwing the racquet around and going crazy on tv while playing against the people he looked up to
And so he decides to change, he builds mental and emotional discipline and learns to control his fire, but he doesn’t kill it, he just controls it. Like a furnace, he controls the door that lets his fire play out in his matches, but closes the door when he needs to control himself.
It was about learning to control the flames instead of extinguishing them. Turning them into a slow burning fuel rather than a bonfire of distraction
As a result, he wins his first title at 21 years old at Wimbledon

Federer’s wake up call came early in his career when his opponents publicly called him mentally weak, that he had no mental discipline, that they could wear this guy out and take advantage of him and beat him.
Maybe the person calling you out on your shortcomings is also a wake up call to change, so just be glad it happened earlier than later

Federer stopped school at 16, he wasn’t a particularly serious student, but he approached adulthood and the tour with much more rigor. He would study the greats of tennis both dead and alive. He was drawn to the history of his chosen sport, a curiosity that only deepened as he proceeded to make so much tennis history himself.
English

Federer’s success was also a product of the people around him, Peter Carter, Pierre Paganini, Murka Vevernac
- A lot of people described Pierre Paganini as unusual, he never played tennis competitively, but he acted as Federer’s spiritual guide, and a convincing lobbyist for the benefits of dedication and moderation
- Paganini had a long-term view for Federer’s health and path and his central message was that tough, consistent work is necessary, but so is rest.

Something I've been trying to implement more in my startup journey isBrad Jacob's eagerness to interact with anyone who was a customer(sales or support), ask questions, scribble down notes, and always end with an invitation to email him directly
The customer is the final boss
Thus, you should be well connected with your sales representatives and support staff, if you aren't apart of sales and support yourself.
