@LeahBanellis Experiencing this is a rite of passage in the academic's journey from Matlab/R to Python!

So who knew that making a copy of a variable in python (‘a = b’) means both will change even if not explicitly referring to it (‘a+1’ will also do the same to b!!) 🙄

@profgeraintrees Enjoying the irony that this is covered by the #nature portfolio who exploit authors by ~2-3x the cost of publishing in #neuroimage - " The APC to publish Gold Open Access in Nature is €9,750 / $11,690 / £8,490 "

The Government’s pay offer for council and school workers in England, Wales and N.Ireland isn’t enough to keep staff from the front line to the breadline – which is why we’re asking you to vote yes for strike action when the ballot opens #PayUp2023

@SfNJournals Excited #ECR - our #neuoscience project is out of early access: Evidence against age-related motor compensation in #openscience fMRI datasets. Walkthrough thread for jneurosci.org/content/41/45/… 👇 twitter.com/ethanknights/s…

Why do older adults show less lateralised motor cortex activity? Is it compensation for age-related decline? Our new early access paper #JNeurosci @SfNJournals suggests not - jneurosci.org/content/early/… - Walkthrough thread below

#JNeurosci: @ethanknights et al. suggest that less lateralized motor cortex activity in older adults is not compensatory for age-related decline in the dominant hemisphere, but instead reflects inefficient processing or reduced interhemispheric inhibition. jneurosci.org/lookup/DOI/10.…

The #Lifebrain team are finally meeting after 2 years of only online meetings. We are having a hybrid consortium meeting, as many are still not able to travel, but we are thrilled to be in Oslo and to have in person contact.

Conclusion: Motor Cortex HAROLD doesn't appear to reflect compensation (perhaps instead it reflects neural inefficiency or motor disinhibition).
