An interesting time period in the development of Kobbie Mainoo… As we saw last night, he was playing in a deeper position [even going to right back in some phases]. However, Kobbie played a significant period of 2022/23 playing at No.10 for United & England. This happened shortly before and after Erik ten Hag announced he was going to have more of an influence at U21s level. He even played at striker vs Spurs U21s. Mainoo now seems to be playing deeper again, where I think he is at his best. Was ten Hag trying to see how he played further forward? Or do we think it was done to enhance areas of his game?
