However, that support was never a licence to undermine the sovereignty, customs, and traditional leadership of our land. Nelson Mandela never imposed himself as a king in Nigeria, nor did he enter any land where there was already established traditional authority and attempt to replace it. What has happened in kuGompo, the land of AmaRharhabe, is a serious violation. The installation of a foreign national as a king in a land that already has rightful leadership is unacceptable and deeply disrespectful. Such an act cannot be normalised. Let us be clear: the support given during apartheid was for the liberation of South Africans, not for the erosion of our traditions, nor for any individual or group to appropriate land, authority, or identity that does not belong to them. We respect the people of Nigeria, but we will not accept any actions that undermine the dignity, sovereignty, and heritage of the AmaRharhabe people and South Africa as a whole.
