for someone whose character is so intertwined with hockey, we see shockingly little of him as a hockey player.
all 3 cup wins, including his 2-peat, are written in a few paragraphs total. we've not shown a glimpse into his captaincy the way we are ilya's (both both and show).

I wonder if people don't see Shane as the player he is because the books don't really show him in any situation where his power on the ice and with his team, especially as a captain, is detailed. We know he is good and we know he is winning but it is not really more than that.
