Still completely taken aback by all of this today. Literally saw none of it coming. 20 years is more than half my life. It’s been a privilege and an honour to get to do this in my hometown. And will continue to be for however much longer I’ve got. Thank you 👏🏻

@DarrenWHaynes Sometimes great players don’t fit on a certain team. You have a season or two to make it work. Otherwise, a trade is probably best for everyone.

I empathize with fans’ anger, but also get why Huberdeau was given a chance to clinch the shootout as there’s an $84M long game being played. The pressure felt by Huska to try and fix him must be huge, so you’re desperate to find him that confidence-restoring breakthrough moment.

A spectacular scorpion save by Dan Vladar in the shootout put the game on Jonathan Huberdeau’s stick - perhaps the last place it should have been. Alas, Huberdeau’s struggles continue as he was stopped on his shootout attempt, allowing the Wild to win it in the fourth round and ending the Flames’ hellish roadie w 2 of 6 points. Flames lack of top finishers has them at 0 for 4 in shootouts now, ruining yet another gutsy effort on the road. This team has plenty of character and heart, but when it comes down to it is missing the skill most teams have.

I like Rasmus Andersson. He's engaging, honest, fiery. He has great vision and a booming shot. He's a proud dad now, too. He's worked extremely hard to become a top-pairing NHL D and is on the cusp of being a star. But he made a poor decision in the heat of the moment on Friday. I understand why the four-game suspension handed down by the league was surprising to many, who thought it would be less. I understand that it's a disappointing decision for Flames fans, the club, and especially the player, with a four-game suspension meaning he will not be eligible to play in the upcoming Heritage Classic. But I can't argue the length of the suspension. I just can't. The game was over. At the end of a long, frustrating night, he targeted an opposition player — that player's name/team/caliber need not matter — and with him vulnerable, he exploded into him, hitting him hard and high, and he hurt him. And please, you can save your arguments that others have done worse and got suspended for less. While true and I won't dispute that, it's a reason for other incidents to have been judged more harshly, not a valid defense for why Andersson should be judged less harshly. Are we not playing attention to everything we've learned about concussions? Those are extremely dangerous plays that need to be removed from the game. A suspension of four games is not a sign that hockey has gone "soft" as some are contesting. Here's hoping it's a sign that the NHL has gone "smart" and is finally figuring out that hey, people's brains are important. For me, it's a basic player respect thing. Hits are fine. I love watching hard open-ice body checks. I enjoy seeing the glass rattle when there's a heavy hit on the end boards. But hitting the "body" is one thing, hitting the "head" is another. And circumstances do matter. The game was over. I've played hockey my whole life. I still play 3-4 times per week. Fuses get short at all levels of hockey and I've seen it countless times. Heck, I've been that guy where you're getting shit-kicked and you're absolutely seething although in my case, it's my stick — and subsequently my wallet — that bears the brunt of it. I obviously never played anywhere close to NHL caliber, but I can only imagine knowing with how competitively these guys are wired, that anger and frustration can really mount at the end of a night like the Flames had in Columbus. But it is absolutely not OK to take out that anger like Andersson did. But let's keep things in perspective, too. This incident doesn't make Andersson a dirty player. He plays hard, he plays with an edge, but he's never been suspended before. He's a player who had a lapse in judgement. There's a difference. But he does need to learn from it, and not repeat it, and hopefully a punishment of this severity accomplishes that while also acting as a deterrent to others. And next similar lapse in judgement by whoever, whenever, and on whatever team, it's on the league to be equally severe when ruling on it for the benefit, not the detriment, of the game.

@PezRadar Can your team please look into adding an option to turn off all the combat text? Totally kills immersion to see the whole screen covered in the word “vulnerable” - let us enjoy those graphics :)
