Catch and release! How fun are these 35mm film moments of me throwing my gloves into the crowd during my season at Adelaide Fringe!
Captured on Ilford HP5+ 35mm film by Marcus Keily
(A big thank you to everyone who returned my gloves for all 10 shows, you're all very honest hahaha) #ilfordhp5 #blackandwhitefilm #filmphotography

Well you all liked the last set I posted! We actually took some photos with a film camera as well. Which look do you prefer? The film or digital ones?

Looking back to humble beginnings back in 2017 doing as many burlesque classes as I possibly could. I would do at least 3 classes a week for years, making sure my work schedule could fit around my new burning passion (or ADHD hyperfixation).
Now, burlesque is more than my passion or my job, it's my entire life. I wouldn't have it any other way ❤️

In 1983, three exotic dancers were arrested by undercover officers for violating a Florida counties anti-nudity ordinance. The dancers were forced to go to court to prove their shorts weren't showing too much skin.
How insane does that sound? As a burlesque dancer in 2024 it honestly seems unbelieve that things like this even happened in the past, it makes me think about how far the world has come, about how hard people have had to fight for their rights and for their bodily autonomy.
I know this post will cost me followers and most likely explode my inbox with people arguing that my Australian perspective is irrelevant, or telling me to stay out of US politics. But the truth is that on the eve of the US election I'm deeply concerned about the potential impact of a second Trump term—not just for my friends and the burlesque community, but for the broader implications on LGBTQIA+ rights, reproductive rights, the overall stability of the world, and the safety of minorities and marginalised communities worldwide.
It seems way less stressful to pretend none of this is happening and to remain apolitical. But I feel implored to write this because collectively across the various social media platforms I use I have around 250k followers that live in the United States, and I want to remind you all that your choices in this election resonate globally. If you truly enjoy what I do please remember that the art of burlesque thrives on freedom, diversity, and expression—values that are at stake in this election.
I urge you all to not give power to those who may dictate the lives of others, those who will determine what is 'too much' skin, or worse, let fundamental rights be stripped away.
To all my US followers, please vote if you haven't already. Democracy is precious, and while @KamalaHarris & Tim Walz may not be perfect, they represent the best chance at safeguarding it.
