I was chasing Nick the whole race and finally caught him with 1km to go and decided we’d cross the line together, a nice bit of US-Canada unity with one of my best friends. Unfortunately Nick‘s stomach had different plans 😂

You try to do something nice for international relations with your friend and they can’t stomach the idea 🤮

@marleydickinson I’d rather be pasty white and not be able to boil bath water through my radiant heat, particularly with my 24+ hour travel day tomorrow 🙈

@MattIlich Raced in Brasilia this morning for our World Team Champs. A stepping stone on the road to fully recovering my hamstring so nowhere near my best.

@MattIlich Do not recommend. Worst part, the sun screen was on the desk in my hotel room. I just didn’t bring it with me :( Too used to 7am races, not 11am.

Had a lovely day in a magical city! Those carbs did the trick. Now I’m off to my favourite endurance sport…….

And we finished 40th. Could have been 39th to be fair, so maybe I didn’t leave ‘everything’ I had out there. But we got our 3 guys across the line and got a team result which was a big goal for today. It’s hard not to be frustrated not being able to do the thing I do as well as I did it months ago, and it’s hard to imagine, right now, getting back to that point if I’m being honest. But we’ll keep going and hope the hamstring continues to improve and give me more and slowly make my way back up to where I was. I really appreciate so many of my competitors commending me for showing up and racing, knowing I’m no where near my best. Part of me feels embarrassed, but also really grateful that those who I toe the line with don’t see it that way at all.

I’m in Brazil for the first time in 10 years, since the Rio Olympics. And tomorrow morning I won’t be contesting for the podium. The hamstring tear I suffered in Tokyo 7 months ago is still healing and I am a long way from where I was then. But I’m excited for this test, to see where my body is at. And I am grateful that @worldathletics included me in their pre-race press conference knowing that and asking me instead about what Brazil gave to me 10 years ago. It’s remarkable to think how much I’ve grown and changed in the last decade, and the role my first Olympics played in that. Tomorrow morning (7am Vancouver time on CBC Gem) I’ll hit the streets of Brasilia, and I will give it everything I have. And maybe tomorrow that will be 40th place. But my words from the evening of that fateful 50km 10 years ago will ring soundly in my ear, ‘I left everything I possibly had out there and I can’t ask for anything more than that.’

@vamosjean @la_dorkout That’s the goal! Although it feels a long way off. I tore my hamstring quite badly at our Worlds in September and am still making my way back. But I’m hopeful I can get back to where I was and fight for a medal in LA 🥳

So my 48 hr. ticket window just closed. Deets: -Gymnastics all sold out -Most womens sports 50%+ cheaper vs. mens -Higher-capacity venues = greater availability -Cheaper tix gone; had to settle for mid-tier -Spent $785 total on 4 tix (qualifying events in basketball & equestrian)

@insidethegames Your tweet and article incorrectly state that road events will be removed. It is just the marathon at this time that is being removed.

Great joy comes from making the 2h10m trip in under 90min thanks to perfect connections. Saved $2.70 too.
