We are back!! I'm excited to share our new paper from @RubenNogueiras lab at @cimususc , where we identified the key role of PCK1 in liver fibrosis progression. Key findings below...👇

So, PCK1 protects the liver from scarring by keeping fibrogenic cells in a quiescent state. When PCK1 is reduced, these cells undergo metabolic reprogramming characterized by increased glycolysis, become aberrantly activated, and promote liver fibrosis in mice.

@evanovoad @RubenNogueiras Very nice. Fits with our unpublished data where we FAC sorted liver stromal and immune cell compartments in SNAP-tagged GLP1R healthy mouse and saw no GLP1R protein except in a rare immune cell subset. Didn't really know how to package the study, but should probably write it up!

I'm excited to share the findings from our recent study from @RubenNogueiras lab, where we investigated whether GLP-1 and GIP agonists have direct actions on human hepatocytes and hepatic stellate cells (HSCs)... Here is a brief summary of the newest findings...👇
