.@evans1_d and @Dr_GHMoen (@IMBatUQ @UniOslo_MED) used winsorisation when performing #GWAS of birthweight and discovered missense variant in the ABCC8 gene estimated to be responsible for a 170g increase in birthweight amongst carriers #DoHAD #T2D link.springer.com/article/10.100… 🔓

This included a low frequency missense variant in ABCC8, a gene involved in congenital hyperinsulinism, neonatal diabetes mellitus and mature onset diabetes of the young, that was estimated to be responsible for a massive 170 gram increase in birthweight amongst carriers.

We found that a winsorization strategy performed best in terms of locus detection doubling the number of significant associations including 25 completely novel loci.
