Not everyone who visits Mara gets to witness a river crossing, even during the migration. This image, The Buffet, was shot in August 2015 when on a self-drive in Mara with Kelvin Shani and JOe Makeni. After lunch at the Serena Canteen, we proceeded to the nearest crossing point and because we were one of the first vehicles there, our view was not blocked by the larger safari vehicles that came after us. I have my wife to thank for capturing this shot as she had prayed for favour for us to witness a crossing on that day, and we did.

Just in time and at the right place as I took this last photo of him at an historical place for my family heritage. This stone is called ‘Rigena rwa Ombori’-Ombori’s stone Ombori is my grandfather’s grandfather, so that is where he spent most of days with his oldman.
