@xparacosm @lussoxt @Jam2go That section was not present when they added the create derivatives language, so their backtracking after the fact is too late for me, but yall go ahead
English

@everyart_ @lussoxt @Jam2go first off, again, no its not what that means. but way more importantly here, not only did bandcamp *ban* all AI music from their platform in January '26 but also take a look at this relatively easy to find section in their TOS.

English

@sylvstuffs @lussoxt @Jam2go ?? Its the legalese way to say we can do whatever we want with your media and you cant sue.
English

@everyart_ @lussoxt @Jam2go "create derivative works of" is very likely just a legalese way to say re-encoding, format shifting, or compressing
English

@xparacosm @lussoxt @Jam2go exactly what that means....thats the language that gives them the right to do so. That language was not there 3 years ago....so no not basic language. Just because tech bros claim thats not how they use derivatives....that is exactly what they are doing.

@q3whocares pretty basic TOS clause for a file-hosting/sharing provider like untitled; the reason these are so verbose is because they need to close every legal loophole that could be used to sue them, even if they mean well. im bored on a train right now so here is an explanation.

@Artxpooh @ceewilldotcom Take a online course for building with shipping containers and check out archdaily.com for inspiration.
English

@ceewilldotcom Black people don’t get hired doing that
English

@csubagio @Jam2go You do not upload directly to Spotify so in most cases rights holders cannot directly give Spotify that right, but Spotify have altered their tos as well forcing the hand of most digital distributors. Im not defending them, just pointing out that Bandcamp is also a bunchofbitches
English

@everyart_ @Jam2go And… Spotify doesn’t?
Heck, Spotify seem to be training their own music AI. Wonder where they’re getting their training data from.
English

@everyart_ @Jam2go could you point me to where it says that?
English

@hannaehwrites Too much of an echo chamber. Theres no genre diversity either. While a black horror movie can win every award there, a black rock artist wont even get invited. They grasp on to any semi-black face on the screen....but Lenny Kravitz's only nomination is for acting in a film.
English

@el_budget HIP hop requires you to be hip. Old rappers need to say something meaningful to be relevant...but if you spent your life rapping about nonsense, what meaningful words do you even have in you
English

Rap is a relatively young genre. It’s now reaching an age where the legends are 40-60. Every other genre embraces the elder statesmen except rap. Rock legends can tour forever but if a rapper makes an album past a certain age fans act appalled
Rose TheArtist@rosethaaartist
Rap is dying because it’s always been a YOUNG person’s game. But the old men won’t move out the way for the new ones. They’re 40+ still trying to be the face of the culture. Let the YOUTH lead. That’s how rap stayed fresh for decades.
English

@byramonade Musicians do, everybody else....their work doesnt usually become iconic til after theyre dead
English

@StonoTone Actually over 20% of the Black players have a white mom
English

Only like 10% of the 80% of Black players are Biracial why do yall hyper focus on them so damn much is beyond me when there’s still a bunch of Black Americans who aren’t biracial at all

@GiftedAsia @AmoreKingTIO Nah cuz i was like i dont know if i ever heard a rapper cover a song (you cant sample in a cover, you have to recreate the music yourself). If they use the same beat/sample...its just a remix.
English

@userB2L70 I already knew she was signed in her teens and built a home studio but i checked again to make sure....and not even one of you numb nuts in these comments did a simple search. You dont deserve the internet
