It’s superficial, but it makes me feel like I’m doing something good for myself when I watch videos like this. But really, it’s artificial. I’m not actually doing anything good for me. It’s a sense of accomplishment but with out the work.

It felt really nice in my body when I made that sound. I saved the video. With the intention that I’d go back to it and keep practicing it. But I won’t. It’s gone into the digital aether. We scroll and watch, scroll and watch.

The fleetingness of short form video on social media. It’s inspiring as we watch, but then it’s gone. Not to be thought of again. I watched a reel today by a Chinese medicine practitioner, about a sound you can make that helps release fear from your kidney.

Well, besides being invisible, because it was always safest. I worry that the world will knock her down a peg. But then I think that with that much faith in herself, she'll keep doing what she loves, regardless of what anyone else says.

My kid is an amazing writer. And she knows it. She's 12. And has such unshakable faith that her writing is good. I wonder if as a parent I've given her too much faith in herself. Especially as a Xennial that grew up with very little faith in any of her abilities.
