When you see events like this, it should serve as a reminder of why Nigeria must complete the return to true federalism, whatever the cost. If a state/region generates its own revenue and then remits an agreed fraction to the federal government, they are free to spend the rest according to the interest and priorities of their people. No one will complain about how they choose to spend their own money. Nigeria cannot continue with a one-size-fits-all system. We are not a homogeneous society. Even if we overlook our smaller differences and focus only on the major cultural and historical distinctions, we will figure that we are at least 6 different peoples, with different values, priorities, and idea of governance. For Nigeria to remain one and succeed, true Federalism to the very last detail is non-negotiable.

I remember when I stole 1k naira note from my mum's ike owo to go spend in school. I stole it around 5am while sweeping thinking it was the usual 100 naira note, only for me to get to school and saw it was 1000 naira note. My everyday take to school then was 100 naira, so 1k felt like I had stolen a million naira 😭. Bro, CBN had just introduced the 1k naira note barely 4 months to that time. I couldn't breathe well in school. I was safeguarding that money with my life, I couldn't play with my pairs, got home and rushed to return it before she noticed 😭.

@sledge_baba I hid the money in my school bag cause I knew they would not suspect me. She searched our house help’s bags Bur couldn’t find it. I was in primary school then. I took the money to school and bought 18 new 60 leaves, pens, math set and bought stuff for my friends. I was a Prince😄

@sledge_baba It came out October 2005 and by November the next month i stole 6,000 naira from my step mom. Around same 5AM. She had gone to my dad’s room and so I sneaked into hers and put my hand in her bag and picked 6 pieces at a go. When I looked at the money I didn’t believe my luck.
