Even the basic ability to read will tell you that the SNP began moving towards a Pro-EU stance from the 80s onwards. This also ties in with their Pro-Immigration stance which has held since forever. Independence isn’t about division it’s because Scotland is a country not a county

@jmgillies Aye, it is a precious and still relatively common tradition. It’s also nice when they get older and people start commending you for raising well-behaved bairns. Happens at least once a fortnight for us now, usually at the bus stop, in public restaurants or just walking around.

An old lady came over to admire our baby daughter in a café today and gave her ‘a couple of pennies for the bank’. A lovely moment, and I think a Scottish tradition - anyone else experienced it?

Around 170 people die every day in Scotland and grief washes over those left behind. @FuneralLinkScot were pleased to attend the Scottish Bereavement Summit in Edinburgh (by @NowCounselling / @CBUK_Scot). There were emotive contributions from @JohnBirrell600 and @NicolaWelsh2.

My family said a fond farewell to my last living grandparent yesterday, Mags. Born to a family of miners in Methil, she was the epitome of a hard life well-lived. I see a solid generation passing away before our eyes and a relatively weak one emerging to replace it.

One positive outcome to be drawn from a funeral is the gathering together, and reminder of the value, of family. Precious!
