While the NYT is busy posting depraved falsehoods about Israelis — I'm thinking about Miss. Arbel Yehoud, who was kidnapped from Israel by Palestinians on October 7th.
For 482 days, Arbel was sexually abused "almost every day" in Gazan captivity.
“I tried to take my life several times. I felt that I couldn’t go on,” Yehoud told Israel Hayoum news.
"There were moments I thought it was the only way out," she said, clarifying that she attempted suicide 3 times.
The abuse — she stressed to the news outlet — was "not a one-time incident but an almost daily reality throughout her 482 days in captivity."
She says in the following video she only spoke out about it publicly after she saw fellow former hostage Romi Gonen speak publicly about her traumas.
"I think the change [of wanting to speak out] happened to me after our beloved Romi appeared on the news. I had kept it buried until then."

As the dad of a daughter, it's noticeable that women such as Condoleezza Rice, Margaret Thatcher, etc are never in those 'Inspiring Women' books/games/etc that they frequently get given.
Supposedly it's about representation, but actually it's about having the 'correct' politics.

This is a point I think people really need to get. I remember when Condoleezza Rice withdrew from her planned commencement speech at Rutgers after protests over her role in the Iraq War. Fine. People were entitled to object to her record, of course. But at the same time, there was about a 0% chance she was going to actually talk about politics. Don’t you think it would have been interesting to hear from someone who grew up as a little Black girl in segregated Birmingham, Alabama — and then went on to become secretary of freaking state? I suspect she had some valuable and interesting things to say. (And yes, that is a massive understatement.)

I support Rashida Tlaib's resolution to officially recognize the Nakba on the condition that we say the truth about what the Nakba was:
Palestinians led the charge, murdering 1% of Israel's population, in a war they started.
Palestinians rejected a peaceful UN two-state solution and chose war and ethnic cleansing instead.
They ethnically cleansed THE ENTIRE East Jerusalem and the West Bank of every Jew. NOT ONE Jew remained there.
Let's recognize the truth of the Nakba.

My best friend got a dog six weeks ago. She has never had a dog. She grew up with cats. She did not fully understand what she was signing up for and I say this as someone who watched it happen in real time.
Her: (texts at 6am) He woke me up at 5.
Me: Dogs do that.
Her: Every day?
Me: Every day.
Her: Nobody told me that.
Me: It's very well documented.
Her: I thought he'd sleep in.
Me: He's a dog not a teenager.
Her: (sends photo of dog sitting on her face)
Me: He's huge.
Her: He's a puppy.
Me: He's going to be enormous.
Her: The pet store said medium sized.
Me: That dog is going to be the size of a small horse.

Her: He also chewed my shoe.
Me: Which one.
Her: The good ones.

Her: Just the left one of each pair.
Me: He got two pairs?
Her: He's been busy.
