Story. Screenplay. Dialogue - Sreenivasan.
That credit card was never just text on a screen. It was a promise spoken softly, but trusted completely.
So many parents carried that reassurance into theatres. A Sreenivasan film meant children could come along without fear. No hurried explanations during the interval. No uncomfortable glances on the way home. Just laughter that felt safe. Laughter that respected the living room it eventually returned to.
His humour didn’t chase punchlines. It waited at bus stops. It stood in ration queues. It sat at the dining table of a middle class home, listening more than it spoke. Ordinary men, small hypocrisies, quiet struggles. He noticed them all and gently nudged us to laugh at ourselves.
With a single pen, he took a distant word "Poland" and turned it into legend. A country most of us could never point to on a map became permanently stamped in Kerala’s collective memory. Geography surrendered to storytelling. That was his reach.
And somehow, he made us smile even when our hearts were heavy. Even when “Pavizhamalli Poothulanja” played and the lump in the throat refused to move, there was warmth tucked inside the sadness. Only a rare artist can place humour beside grief without disturbing either.
Tomorrow, Malayalam cinema will still have writers. Films will still be made. Dialogues will still earn applause.
But something will be missing. That gentle moral compass, that quiet assurance that laughter doesn’t have to insult to feel real.
Dear Sreeni Sir,
You coloured my childhood with laughter that was safe, intelligent, and kind.
Today, that laughter echoes a little differently.
With moist eyes and a full heart, I bow to you.

Amused to see Bharat Mata on the poster of SFI, @SitaramYechury @cpimspeak 's student's wing! Commies now accept that they've lost the debate. Those who shouted 'Bharat tere tukde honge' are now trying to appropriate national symbols, saying Bharat Mata ki Jai #ParamVaibhavam 🚩

Instead of questioning @RSSorg over Constitution - @cpimspeak Gen Secretary should read his own party literature on Constitution and undemocratic amendments during Emergency.
After abusing Constitution as ‘tool of exploitative class’, communist party called emergency amendments as ‘rhetoric’ organiser.org/2025/07/04/300…

RSS's demand to remove socialism & secularism from the Constitution's Preamble is a direct assault on India's core values. RSS always pushed Manusmriti over our Constitution. Secularism & equality are its bedrock. CPI(M) will fiercely resist this divisive agenda to protect our democratic republic! newindianexpress.com/nation/2025/Ju…

CPM-ruled panchayat in Kerala has renamed a place called 'Pakistan Mukku' (Pakistan Jn.) to its original name, 'Iverkala', in the backdrop of #OperationSindhoor. Iver means 'five persons' and kala means 'place'. Locals believe that the PanchPandavas lived here during their vanvas

Will @HMOIndia remain inactive if any Islamist outfit condemns an Indian armed forces operation against Islamic terrorists? Then why have no CPM leaders been arrested or even warned for issuing such anti-national statements that support terrorists & incite war against the state?

It was Nehru who internationalized the Kashmir issue by taking it to the United Nations. The Tashkent Agreement, following the 1965 war, was mediated by USSR and signed on foreign soil. The Shimla Agreement, after the 1971 war, was also mediated by USSR. #CongressFailedBharat

Indira ji was lucky, she had a nationalist opposition who stood by her unconditionally in the 1971 war. Her opposition's statements could not be quoted by Pakistan in official press conferences. #IndiaPakistanConflict

If we go by #IndiraGandhi model, why stop at war? Why not an Emergency after war? Why not slogans modelled on 'India is Indira and Indira is India'? Why not send tanks into minority holy sites? Why not demolish them? Why not forced sterilisation of Muslims? #IndiaPakistanWar
