@exit_velo Tyrone Taylor versus Yankees’ ‘pen: stoppable force versus moveable object
English

@YankeesFiles Hey, quick question: should we call them homes run from now on? I think we need to have sharper form on our pluralization to will this winning streak into existence
English

@YankeesFiles Lombard has a higher ROS wRC+ projection than McMahon, per ATC.
narrativeball note: McMahon has superior steamer, ZIPS, Bat X, and OOPSY projections, but those don't matter here
English

@ettingermentum I was bored so I made this, used the most and least woke team names in sports

English

@YankeesFiles Also please gawk at George Lombard's prospect savant page
English

@YankeesFiles Not a question but a comment about how obvious the "six man rotation issue" would sort itself out would be appreciated
English

@GaryHPhillips Genuinely curious-- how does that compare to other teams' 6-9 slots? 89 wRC+ strikes me as average or not far off for the bottom of the order
English

The #Yankees' offense is in a bit of a funk heading into the Subway Series.
"We gotta get some guys on track.”
The bottom half of the lineup, in particular, has been a problem all season. Prior to Wednesday's one-hit, shutout loss, the team’s 6-9 hitters had combined for an 89 wRC+, a .668 OPS and a .224 average.

Isn't the easy solution here to have the ump verbally confirm intent to challenge?
Ben Verlander@BenVerlander
This is brutal. The league has stated the signal for an ABS challenge is a helmet tap. It MUST be a helmet tap. A verbal request is not enough. Yet this umpire still said Baty challenged here even though he clearly didn’t.
English

I’m sure this will come down, but holy cow

Steve@Srechter7
I did not expect to see 97.7 mph from Rodon in his first inning back. Probably amped up, but still a wonderfully inspiring sign
English

@YankeesFiles I will not be imagining that thank you
English

Imagine Clarence Thomas Saggese
Yankees Files@YankeesFiles
Imagine Ketanji Brown Jackson Chourio
English

@AndThatsBB give me Keston Hiura as a comp, maybe Wily Mo Peña
English

@xwOBA_enjoyer @YankeesFiles I think this contradicts the other point you just made. Either he has upside or those contact rates are unlikely to budge. I believe the latter, but I do think there's a team out there willing to take a shot at the former if the price is right. I think that disappears if he tanks
English

@exit_velo @YankeesFiles I think Jones' upside is more valuable than whatever reliever you would get for him
English

@DominguezBetter @YankeesFiles I just want a reliever. I think there's a team out there that's willing to take a shot. I think the Yankees FO is unwilling to move him for that little
English

@exit_velo @YankeesFiles I disagree but because I don’t think he’ll get an extended long run and i also don’t think he has much trade value as is anymore.
English

@xwOBA_enjoyer @YankeesFiles We are talking margins though. I think a reasonable return could be RP, for example. I believe that would be a very hard sell for the Yankees FO, and I understand why. I just think it's wrong
English

@xwOBA_enjoyer @YankeesFiles Look, I LOVE projections, but they absolutely cannot be the only input here, especially in edge cases.
I also don't think it's unreasonable to infer that the Yankees' asking price could be too high (and I don't blame them either — if they are wrong, it will look terrible).
English

@xwOBA_enjoyer @YankeesFiles It's just about the degree of bad here. A 45-50% K rate is likely. I just don't see how he doesn't make the team significantly worse every time he is in the lineup. Cabby is, at best, slightly worse than Volpe (assuming Volpe is actually healthy, which we don't know).
English

@exit_velo @YankeesFiles Your third-string DH being bad is not really a problem compared to your starting shortstop being bad
And if the Yankees viewed Jones as primarily a trade chip, they would've traded him a while ago
