Characters = narrative shortcut for certain traits or experiences—but fic authors have always been at liberty to explore THEIR identities as lived by people who AREN’T them. Fanfic is escapism

i think a lot of you need to realise that people often write fanfiction to explore themselves and use the characters as tools to do so, and that's perfectly fine... it doesn't need to be a perfect exploration of the characters in align with how they behave in canon

I’m still not over it like. People have gender swapped Hollanov. People have made ABO Hollanov, which tbh in a lot of cases is an analogue of straight Hollanov. Which also exists.
And yet somehow, the problem is fanfic making Shane Hollander… bisexual.

• If fic is properly tagged, then it shouldn’t be your problem
• I understand the OOC frustration but to imply that bisexuality is not a “marginalized identity” is dismissive imo.

People on here saying that 1000 kudos is a laughably ignored fic and that 500 kudos is an absurdly low number very few could imagine, and meanwhile my highest-kudos'd fic ever sits at 464 kudos, which I consider to be an insanely high number 😭
