I was so nervous but i got to meet Ben Starr and Jennifer English and got them to sign my prints!!! 😭 apparently they’ve been seeing them all weekend bc ppl have been using them for autographs 🥺 theyre so so so sweet and charming in person!!!

the only thing about the big/pro artist discussion i will push back on is that engagement really isn't *just* luck based. marketing/business is a real field that takes research and focused effort. if you don't have an intended audience then nobody will find you..

I've seen veteran artists give up on social media giving tips because young and angry artists in the community simply didn't understand advice that required lived experience, honesty with oneself (+/- therapy), and simply doing the work.
People are afraid of failure it's fucked

Because anytime a "big" artist says something that's true but slightly uncomfortable to hear, the art community throws a huge fit over it and tells them to die Seen it happen so many times

@KunoMD also this information comes as freely as water if you’re actually in community with other artists!!! just make friends!! not just seeking out parasocial relationships with big artists but actually making friends with your peers!!!!

This is precisely why I stopped handing out advice to growing artists. I really believe I can only lead a horse to water, but I cant make them drink. And I certainly cant stop them from drowning themselves....

While I don't know if I would call myself a "big artist", as I don't really feel I am personally, I can't say how many times I've given people resources, encouragement, in-depth explanations tailored to their situation, even just for them to thanklessly be like "mm nah" or ghost
