@MeltingSnowBro The quoted post's comment section has made me lose faith in the average person's reading comprehension

@r1nceaux I think I'm the opposite, if someone held a gun to my head and told me to write an essay I'd say my prayers

@ag_gobby @tohofuny 4 flanderized Buzz to a ridiculous extent but I think you're right that it started with 3. Actually, I haven't seen 3 in a long while, I should rewatch it.

@tohofuny @explosionenjoy 3 actually dialed back some of these tendencies but still had flaws. I hate what it did to Buzz. The first movie is really the most resonant, adult, and restrained of the three, with the second and third having some good themes marred by very annoying segments.

You get called a Disney adult for this but I love Disney’s output up to the 00s- both animated & live action. Pinocchio, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Robin Hood (2 versions!), Treasure Island, Aladdin, The Lion King, 20,000 Leagues, etc are great. Timeless family films!

@tohofuny @ag_gobby People exaggerate the quality drop after the introduction. It's a good movie with a great introduction, people act like it's a steaming pile of shit after the first 10 minutes lol

@ag_gobby I say probably because I might just be remembering how good the introduction was, so maybe I should say WALL-E.

@ag_gobby The last good family movie with the Disney logo on it was probably Up.

@tohofuny There should be a cap on advertising budgets or something. Beyond letting people know a product exists, what it does, and why it's better than the competitors', an advertisement does nothing but waste time and money.

Advertising is the most overvalued "service" in human history. I will not elaborate.

@ag_gobby @MeltingSnowBro Americans became a distinct people in North America. Gypsies were already a distinct people before they reached Europe.

@explosionenjoy @MeltingSnowBro I’m confused about your argument. By what specific metric can gypsies residing in the contingent of Europe for a certain time period be called not European while Americans can be called North American? We need absolute consistency.

@ag_gobby @MeltingSnowBro I'd say what counts is where their ethnogenesis occurred. Americans as a distinct people came about in North America. Boers in South Africa. Gypsies were one before they reached Europe.

@explosionenjoy @MeltingSnowBro To be clear: South Africans are African Americans are North American We need be logically consistent. So if Gypsies aren’t European, then no one in the US whose family did not arrive here in the past thousand some years can be called North American.
