Since 7/10/23, there have been 14,000 references in the news to "Israel's right to defend itself" compared to just 9 for Iran, 7 for Lebanon & 14 mentions of "Palestinians right to defend themselves" (from Nexis database). This is Western foreign policy masquerading as journalism

NEW: Am told police did not have a warrant to enter the building whose doors they smashed in this morning. Will be interesting to see what legal grounds the police had to evict the shelter, which both the mayor and legal experts had confirmed was legal under squatting law.

Riot police have gathered outside the Autonomous Winter Shelter, a homeless shelter opened using squatting law in Shadwell, east London. The police previously threatened to arrest residents after complaints from the owners, a Catholic order that claims to help the homeless.

I still don’t think people understand what it means for 33 million people to be displaced. That’s 6 times more people than those internally displaced in Ukraine from war, that’s roughly 90% of the population of Canada. That’s how many people are internally homeless right now
