@Av3b3ll @itsbrandyskini i understand what you’re saying, and I agree that the way we use words can definitely change over time. Personally, my doctor taught me a different perspective on it :) I was hospitalized and he explained how terms like that can land differently depending on context and medical.
English

@eymtzzz @itsbrandyskini I get you and I think the way we use words changes with time. That being said, the dictionary defintion of skinny does actually reflect the way my generation used that word.

English

@wooffwaffle @loub_777 @itsbrandyskini people online act like every thin girl is automatically underweight when body composition, height, proportions and fat distribution literally exist
English

@Av3b3ll @itsbrandyskini I get what you mean, and I agree that a lot of people associate “skinny” with unhealthy thinness because of generations. But that’s still an association, not the actual definition. People attach different connotations to it depending on the generation or context 🫠
English

@eymtzzz @itsbrandyskini I always apologized growing up when I accidentally called someone skinny when I meant thin. For my generation, skinny was associated with disordered eating. I think generations before associated skinny with thin, and now it’s coming back to that. Just changes with the times.
English

@loub_777 @itsbrandyskini you’re mixing definition with interpretation. skinny just describes a very thin body it doesn’t mean “bony” or “underweight,” and it says nothing about health. health is medical, not based on labels or appearance ! you can keep your version though.
English

@eymtzzz @itsbrandyskini It does mean healthy lol it's a way to describe a thin shape who's healthy unlike skinny which mean boney and underweight
English

@loub_777 @itsbrandyskini and also slim doesn’t mean healthy it’s just another way to describe a thinner body shape !
English

@loub_777 @itsbrandyskini that’s not correct ! skinny just describes someone who looks very thin it’s about appearance, not a medical condition, it doesn’t automatically mean underweight ;)
underweight is a medical term based on BMI and health standards
