@ezContents I love Idiocracy, the movie was relevant before ai was even around, and basically is a documentary about the US.

If you haven’t seen this movie, it’s a must-watch! It shows how the world will be impacted by AI in the future.

@ezContents I think it's this MeshCore setting on the repeaters :

Got a small Meshtastic network working and sent a message over LoRa from one node to another. Pretty cool stuff. Looks like there aren't any other nodes around here though.

Thanks to the tips of @Amon_RA I have switched to MeshCore LoRa network as this is wider used than Meshtastic in the Netherlands. First device is up and running for some real field tests.

@Amon_RA I have flashed the cardputer with the MeshCore firmware (meshcorecardputeradv.vercel.app), but still the same. Tomorrow more tests. 🙂

@ezContents 1 km is probably too far for your companion device... if there are things in between like tall buildings, trees, etc.

@Amon_RA That looks like a pretty descent repeater/antenna setup! Thanks for the link of the map. It seems there are some nodes 1 km or so from here. So probably my antenna doesn't reach far enough. I will do some more tests tomorrow outside.

It depends... maybe there is a node close to where you live that provides you with coverage? Check the map : meshcore.co.uk/map.html Most people put a repeater on the roof of their house. Repeaters can connect over many kilometers if you put them high enough. This is my repeater :

@ezContents Indeed. Meshcore is also not local anymore, the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Belgium are all connected via MeshCore... So you will see messages from "far" away. 😉

@Amon_RA I thought there is a setting to override it in Meshtastic. Not sure how localmesh is dealing with this.

@ezContents That's a Meshtastic thing, not a MeshCore thing, right?

@ezContents There are thousands of MeshCore repeaters in the Netherlands, and it's heavily used. Get a repeater on your roof, and you are good to go.

Still on my project todo list is to get this LoRa module up and running. Maybe with some other LoRa receivers that I have to build using ESP32 modules? Still not sure how to set it up.
