It has been genuinely painful to see propaganda and hostility directed at Argentina 🇦🇷, including from people I follow and respect, many of them Bitcoiners and leaders in our industry.
My hope is that people pause, verify what they are being told and think with love rather than hate. People consumed by hatred are easier to divide and manipulate.
Much of it appears to be driven by misinformation, amplified by mainstream and social media until a simplistic narrative becomes accepted as truth. It is a disturbing reminder of how powerful centralised institutions can be in shaping what people believe. For a community that values independent verification, we should be especially careful not to outsource our thinking.
Argentina is a nation formed by Indigenous peoples and successive generations of immigrants from Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and with little influence from Africa. One of the first countries to abolish slavery 1853, and with no historical racial segregation as seen in other countries.
Same as Ukranians, we don't like to be invaded. And that's why protests for Malvinas invasion are still present. It's interesting how the same outlets that condemn Russia also condemn Argentinians for peacefully protesting an invasion. The same intellectual consistency should apply not depending on which countries are involved.
Argentines are not perfect. No society is. But the overwhelming majority are warm, generous and welcoming people who will treat a newcomer as one of their own.
I suspect some of the present hostility is political, directed at Milei and his positions, including him being a liberal and free speech supporter.
Criticise Argentina when criticism is deserved. But do not turn misinformation, selective history and political disagreement into hatred against Argentines. 🇦🇷

@TouchlineX I do find interesting that Palestinian flag was allowed to be used or other equivalents but when its about something outside the agenda its a scandal... Makes you think...

🚨 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: FIFA could FINE Argentina after the players displayed "Malvinas (Falkland Islands) are from Argentina" banner after their World Cup game vs. England.
FIFA do not tolerate political gestures. Back in 2014, Argentina were fined for the same reason.

@PeterMcCormack If there was one match without controversy, it was this one.

@musttryharder4 @PeterMcCormack Just a reminder: the goal that gave England its only World Cup star didn't even cross the line. Just saying.

@PeterMcCormack Lol, Englands goal actually touch the ceiling camera which should have made the goal invalid... Need to have some nerves to post about favouritism after that...

FIFA rankings are an accumulation of results over time, not a snapshot of how well a team is playing today. They can also create a feedback loop that benefits European teams, which regularly face other highly ranked opponents. That is why some lower-ranked teams have performed exceptionally well at this World Cup.

@ezewern @brfootball I agree… But a lot of times we look at stuff on paper on which country you should beat the other right? A lot more powerhouse countries had more difficulty playing against other powerhouse countries during group stages as well as the round of 32 and round of 16.

@Andy_RM @brfootball This speaks about the system of points used for the ranking, it does not really reflect the level of the teams.
