🟥 I stopped by my local supermarket after work yesterday, to pick up some hummus and a baguette.
Behind me in line at the self-checkout were two young men, who looked to be in their late teens.
I overhead one say to the other, “I had to get two different security clearances just to be a VOLUNTEER at this community organization, yet someone who is the leader of a main political party and wants to be the Prime Minister of Canada doesn’t even HAVE security clearance??? Make it make sense!”
I smiled quietly to myself.
Young Canadians these days, are sharp.

From a small town on Vancouver Island to sitting across from the Premier of Alberta… that was a pretty surreal moment for me….But what stood out the most wasn’t the setting… it was how calm I felt. And if you know me, that means something.
I went into this conversation with a lot of questions and a lot of concern about where things are going. I didn’t expect easy answers… but I was looking for honesty. I do believe she understands more than people think.
No one person is going to fix everything. But I do believe there are people trying to stand in the right place right now… and that matters.
I left that conversation feeling more grounded… and with a little more hope for Alberta.

On Easter Sunday leaving a restaurant we saw a homeless man in the pouring rain searching the garbage can across the street. I brought him our takeaway containers and some money. He immediately ate the food in the rain. He was starving. This is Ontario. It makes me so angry. 🤬
