@RuthJoy96960173 'It’s a choice freely made' is inaccurate because career choice doesn’t imply informed consent to excessive, unpaid labour or evolving demands. Many teachers enter under different expectations and face systemic pressures that limit real freedom to refuse extra work.

What Spurs fans fail to realise: Everyone doesn’t want spurs to go down because they are a big club. Everyone wants spurs to go down because their fans think they are a huge club. Distinct difference.
talkSPORT@talkSPORT

🌎 West Ham fan: "The whole world wants Spurs to go down!" 🤷‍♂️ O'Hara: "That's because Spurs are a big club and West Ham ain't!" Jamie O'Hara got into a hilarious clash with a #WHUFC fan over his club's relegation battle with #THFC! 😅🔥

@sophielouisecc By that logic, we shouldn’t restrict anything 4 young people: just let them use alcohol or cigarettes freely and expect them to ‘learn self-control’. But we don’t, self-discipline isn’t built through unlimited access; it’s built through boundaries first. Phones are no different.

@adamboxer1 @natalieben Im not suggesting schools are dictatorships, but schools promote individuality in learning, yet restrict appearance. That doesn’t make them oppressive, but it does raise a question about where individuality is genuinely encouraged versus where it’s controlled, right?

@MotivacionesF If I were a multimillionaire footballer, I would absolutely be loyal to a partner that was there when I had nothing: she loves him for who he is and vice versa - the way it should be.

@Headteacherchat I worked in a school where the HT died during the April half term in 2014. He was replaced by an interim HT by the first Monday of the new term. Seeing this in action made me realise that it is just a job - no one is really counting on you, but your family. Bear that in mind.

Anonymous post: I could use some guidance on handling the crushing guilt of stepping down from a headteacher role. I’m aware the school is still counting on me, yet I’m running on empty.

@Shadygize So, if memory serves me well, the worst player on that pitch had the best goals to minutes ratio in La Liga that season... A ballon d'or winner too... Owen, albeit a terrible commentator, was an immense finisher/player - elite level in an era unrivalled by today's mediocrity.

@Jenny_1884 Benefited from strong unions, then supported policies that eroded them. Backed privatisation that increased costs for future generations. Opposed tax increases needed for long-term public investment. Encouraged policies fostering intergenerational wealth gaps.

It’s amazing the amount of people on here that appear to think pensioners had it easy. When I got married we scraped enough money to put a deposit on a 1 bedroom flat. Everything we had was second hand & clothes were a luxury & waited for Xmas & birthdays. No holidays. Never went out to restaurants as couldn’t afford it so cooked meals from scratch. We lived pay packet to pay packet. So no we didn’t have it easier we just had different priorities, saved up until we could afford to buy something & got on with life with no free handouts.

The unemployed today in Britain have lost all my sympathy. I lived through the eighties. There were no jobs. Being unemployed now is sitting at home, paid for by taxpayers, being picky whilst people travel hundreds or thousands of miles to this country to do the jobs our unemployed choose not to. I am not about ‘helping’ unemployed people back into work, I am about forcing them to. Reduce their benefits after one month by 10% each month until they go get a a job. Explain to me why some are allowed to choose not to work whilst others have NO SAY in how much is robbed from their pay packet to pay them? Sick of it.

@kelvmackenzie Analysis? You’re repeating legacy media maths, not reality. That “£11 for £1” figure is classic spin — ignores decades of contributions/lower pay. Cut pensions and taxpayers just pay more in higher salaries. Sensationalism isn’t economics, Kelvin.

Thanks to analysis by the Times I am horrified to learn public sector workers receive £11 for every £1 they pay in while private sector employees receive just £5.35 for every one of their £s. Official figures show the taxpayer ( you and me ) will fork out £57billion to fund these state worker pensions. Unjustifiable. Somebody at some stage will have to double what these state workers pay in. It won’t be Labour as they are in hock to the public sector unions. Will it be Reform? I’d like to think so.

@sophielouisecc I hope poverty consumes you one day so that you can learn the selfishness of your ways... I just hope this isn't whilst you are a single parent though - I would hate to see any children suffer unlike you.

Breakfast clubs should be free to children whose parents work and who need to drop their children off a little early in order to be able to work. It should not be free for those who don’t work.
