Lock in lower pricing on SignalScope X subscriptions before May 11. SignalScope X version 13 is coming soon and it’s bringing added value to all 3 tool set tiers–Basic, Advanced, and Pro. Along with the release of the major software upgrade, the price for each monthly and annual subscription will be increasing on May 11, 2026. Any existing subscriptions will stay at their current renewal price, so if you would like to save on a subscription, make sure you have an active subscription before the 11th of May.

Also, SignalScope was the app to win the Apple Design Award in 2003. A major upgrade to SignalScope is coming soon. Stay tuned...

I will have to admit to feeling a little nostalgic, today, with Apple turning 50—and not just because it means my own 50th birthday is coming right up. From the time I learned some very simple coding on an Apple II in elementary school—to winning a (Student) Apple Design Award in 2003, publishing 2 apps in the iPhone App Store on its opening day in 2008 (SignalScope and SignalSuite), and now developing software tools and media for Apple’s newest hardware platforms—my relationship with Apple, and Apple technology, has been a significant part of my life both personally and professionally. I can’t say that I am quite the passionate Apple fan that I was as a younger man, but Apple platforms are still (arguably) the best available and I remain committed to my personal and professional investments in them. Here’s to a bright future for Apple and its independent developers.

Apple celebrates 50th birthday Today, April 1, 2026, Apple celebrates its 50th birthday! Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne on April 1, 1976 to develop and sell the Woz-designed Apple I personal computer, which was quickly followed by the release of the groundbreaking Apple II in June 1977. macdailynews.com/2026/04/01/app…

I just measured the frequency response and directivity of the new iPhone 17 Pro’s main microphone and I’m a little surprised and even puzzled by the results. I expect to comment more on this in the near future (with more graphs, of course).

@Virelords IOScope only runs on iOS 12 or earlier. If you have an older device running iOS 12, you can still run IOScope, there. The Dual FFT Analyzer tool in SignalScope X is the recommended replacement on the latest iOS.

How to Analyze Audio Files with SignalScope This video shows how to use the MultiTool in SignalScope X to analyze data in an audio file (WAV, AIF, or CAF) using SignalScope's File Player and Octave Analyzer tools. As an example, a file containing gunshot recordings is analyzed as part of a project to measure the directional nature of gunshot sounds. (Some features shown in this video require the Pro Tool Set.)
