The island of Socotra, part of Yemen, is often referred to as the “Galápagos of the Indian Ocean” because of its extraordinary biodiversity, with about 37% of its plant species found nowhere else on Earth, including the iconic dragon’s blood tree, which has a distinctive umbrella-shaped crown and produces a red resin that has been used for various purposes.

In 2014, 23-year-old Ashley Gabrielle Huff was pulled over in Georgia. Police found a spoon with red residue and a field drug test said it was methamphetamine. Ashley swore it was just leftover Spaghettio sauce from lunch. Unable to pay bail, she spent a full month in jail, lost her job at Waffle House and missed her child’s birthday. A month later, the state crime lab finally tested it properly and confirmed it was nothing but tomato sauce.

I ranked all EU capitals by road connectivity with all other EU capitals. For each capital, I took the shortest road distance to every other EU capital, summed all those distances, and ranked the cities from the lowest total to the highest. The lower the total distance, the better the location in relation to all EU capitals. Vienna is the winner. 1. 🇦🇹 Vienna - 28,392 km 2. 🇨🇿 Prague - 28,508 km 3. 🇭🇺 Budapest - 29,788 km 4. 🇸🇰 Bratislava - 29,910 km 5. 🇩🇪 Berlin - 30,097 km 6. 🇵🇱 Warsaw - 31,587 km 7. 🇩🇰 Copenhagen - 34,473 km 8.🇧🇪 Brussels - 34,585 km 9. 🇭🇷 Zagreb - 35,626 km 10. 🇸🇮 Ljubljana - 36,510 km 11. 🇫🇷 Paris - 37,158 km 12. 🇮🇹 Rome - 37,334 km 13. 🇳🇱 Amsterdam - 37,742 km 14. 🇧🇬 Sofia - 39,400 km 15. 🇱🇺 Luxembourg - 39,782 km 16. 🇷🇴 Bucharest - 40,101 km 17. 🇱🇹 Vilnius - 40,105 km 18. 🇸🇪 Stockholm - 41,008 km 19. 🇱🇻 Riga - 45,474 km 20. 🇪🇪 Tallinn - 48,821 km 21. 🇫🇮 Helsinki - 49,139 km 22. 🇮🇪 Dublin - 50,019 km 23. 🇪🇸 Madrid - 54,937 km 24. 🇬🇷 Athens - 56,998 km 25. 🇲🇹 Valletta - 63,609 km 26. 🇵🇹 Lisbon - 70,775 km 27. 🇨🇾 Nicosia - 75,719 km

Mercury is the only metal that is liquid at room temperature, with a melting point of -38.83 °C (-37.89 °F). This unique property makes it useful in thermometers and barometers, but its toxicity poses significant health risks. For this reason, mercury thermometers are no longer allowed in many countries. In the EU they are banned since 2009.

Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is still rising due to the ongoing collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates, although estimates vary. Some sources give about 4 millimeters per year, while others suggest closer to 1-2 millimeters annually. However, this uplift is not perfectly steady, because earthquakes, erosion, and other geological processes can temporarily speed it up, slow it down, or even cause short-term drops in elevation. Today, Mount Everest officially stands at 8,848.86 meters (29,031.7 feet) above sea level. Based on current uplift estimates, it may have been even 4 meters lower 1,000 years ago.
