DISTRACTION IS A WEAPON. THE OPPOSITION IS FALLING FOR IT AGAIN
The political atmosphere in Nigeria is filled with events that appear organic on the surface. Things that seem genuine and unforced. But if you scratch deeper, you'll find that many of these events aren't merely planned and executed by the ruling APC; they have been carefully orchestrated to serve one precise purpose: keep the opposition busy until the last minute.
The infighting that erupted within most of the leading opposition parties was not accidental ,it was carefully staged to look real. Any reasonable observer would agree that the defecting governors and other political actors did not join the APC because President Tinubu has performed well, or because their own parties abandoned them. Everything unfolding before us has been quietly planned and controlled by the ruling party. Consider, too, the seduction of the opposition's strongest voices, now reduced to political puppets by design, all working toward a predetermined end: to turn Nigeria into a one party state.
What if the Prof. Joash Amupitan fiasco was part of the plan all along? What if the man simply has nothing to lose? Should he resign, he will be handsomely compensated for a role well played. Think of it this way: the APC, aware that court-imposed restrictions on several opposition parties would not hold indefinitely, chose to fly the Amupitan kite in a calculated manner knowing it would stir up fresh chaos in the political arena. While that drama plays out in public, they are quietly shopping for a reliable replacement to finish the job on election day, that's if they don't already have one waiting in the wings.
I am firmly convinced that the APC is cooking something sinister, judging by how events have unfolded in recent days.
At this stage, the opposition must toughen up and begin mounting counter-pressure on the APC. After all, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. When your opponent decides to play dirty, playing fair only hastens your own defeat. This is the time to hit the ground running.
